Golden Rootz provides scheduled, on-site dental instrument sharpening and maintenance — so your hygiene team never has to worry about dull tools again.
About Us
Golden Rootz provides professional dental instrument sharpening and maintenance that helps practices extend instrument lifespan, reduce replacement costs, and keep hygiene teams working with instruments that stay consistently sharp, effective, and reliable.
Built on real clinical experience in dental hygiene, our service is grounded in the realities of day-to-day practice. Dull or inconsistently maintained instruments slow clinicians down, increase hand fatigue, affect patient comfort, and lead to unnecessary spending.
What sets Golden Rootz apart is that we do more than maintain instruments — we track instrument lifespan and provide financial reviews that help clinics clearly see where value is being created.
This is not just sharpening. It is a smarter maintenance system backed by data.

Services
We don’t just sharpen instruments — we give your team their time back and make your instruments last longer.
The Technology
European-grade precision sharpening — a more uniform, reliable edge on every instrument, every visit. Unlike inconsistent hand sharpening, the Rondo Plus delivers the same exceptional result every single time.
Used on every visit — no exceptions.
Precision sharpening on every visit using the Rondo Plus European-grade machine — consistently sharp, every time.
Full instrument condition assessment and lifespan tracking so you replace by data, not guesswork.
We visit your clinic during regular hours, working around your team with minimal disruption — most clinics barely notice we’re there.
With consistent professional sharpening, instruments last 18–24 months instead of the typical 12 months — so you replace them far less often and spend significantly less every year.
The time your hygienists spent on in-house sharpening is returned to chairside care — that’s real recovered production.
Flat-rate monthly pricing based on your instrument count — simple, predictable, and easy to budget for.
Why I Started Golden Rootz
After more than 13 years working as a Registered Dental Hygienist, I saw firsthand how important sharp, well-maintained instruments are to clinical care, patient comfort, and the day-to-day efficiency of a hygiene team.
I also saw a recurring problem in practice: instrument maintenance was often inconsistent, undocumented, and only done when there was extra time. It was squeezed into cancellations, lunch breaks, or the end of a long day — and without a clear system in place, the results varied too.
Over time, that can lead to instruments losing their shape, reduced clinical efficiency, increased hand fatigue for clinicians, unnecessary replacement costs, and a poorer experience for both the provider and the patient.
I started Golden Rootz because I knew there had to be a better way.
My goal was to create a more consistent, professional approach to instrument sharpening and maintenance — one that helps practices protect their investment, support their teams, and deliver a higher standard of care.
Instrument maintenance is not just a small task in the background. It is an essential part of clinical excellence, practice efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Testimonial
I’ve been using this dental hygiene sharpening service for nearly one year, and the quality has been consistently excellent. The instruments come back incredibly sharp, well-maintained, and ready for use, which makes a noticeable difference in both efficiency and patient comfort. The turnaround time is reliable, and the attention to detail is outstanding. I highly recommend this service to any dental professional looking to maintain their instruments at the highest standard.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know before booking a clinic review.
We provide a complete professional hygiene instrument maintenance system — including in-clinic precision sharpening, instrument condition assessment, lifespan tracking, and reporting. We come to your clinic, sharpen and assess every instrument in your rotation, and leave your team with tools that perform the way they should. No more squeezing sharpening into cancellations or lunch breaks.
We work with single-location dental clinics, multi-location dental groups, and corporate dental offices. If you have an active hygiene team and instruments that need to stay sharp and reliable, Golden Rootz is built for you — whether you’re a clinic owner, office manager, lead hygienist, or regional operations leader.
In-house sharpening is typically done inconsistently — squeezed in during cancellations or before a shift — which means results vary and instruments gradually lose their proper working shape. Golden Rootz uses a professional European-grade precision sharpening machine (the Rondo Plus) that produces a more uniform, reliable edge every time. Combined with systematic tracking and scheduled maintenance visits, your instruments stay in peak condition far longer than with hand sharpening alone.
Not at all. We schedule visits during your regular office hours and work completely around your team. We only take 2–3 cassettes from each operatory at a time, so your hygienists always have instruments available at chairside. We set up in a small out-of-the-way space — like a lab or office area — and our technicians are trained to work quickly and efficiently without getting in anyone’s way. Most clinics tell us they barely notice we’re there.
We typically visit once a month, though the schedule is tailored to your clinic’s instrument volume and usage. Higher-volume clinics or those with larger hygiene teams may benefit from more frequent visits. We’ll recommend the right cadence after your initial assessment.
Very little. We just need access to your instrument sets at the scheduled time. We handle the assessment, sharpening, tracking, and reporting. Your team doesn’t need to do any prep work — that’s the whole point.
Pricing is based on the number of instruments in your clinic’s rotation, starting at $200/month. Most clinics find the monthly investment pays for itself quickly when you factor in reduced instrument replacement costs and the hygiene labour time that’s returned to patient care. Use the savings calculator on this page to get a custom estimate for your clinic.
For most clinics, yes — significantly. Without consistent maintenance, instruments typically last about 12 months before needing replacement. With Golden Rootz, that extends to 18–24 months. On top of that, the hygiene labour time previously spent on in-house sharpening — often 10–12 hours per month at a 4-hygienist clinic — is returned to patient care. That recovered production time alone can represent tens of thousands of dollars in annual value.
We work on a monthly flat-rate model designed to be simple and predictable. Contact Mandie directly to discuss the terms that work for your clinic — we’re flexible, especially for dental groups and multi-location offices.
Golden Rootz was founded by Mandie Merrick, a Registered Dental Hygienist with over 13 years of clinical experience. Our on-site sharpening technicians are trained specifically in dental instrument maintenance and use the same professional-grade equipment on every visit — so your clinic gets consistent, reliable results every time.
We use the Rondo Plus — a professional European-grade precision sharpening machine — which produces a more uniform edge than hand sharpening. Every instrument is assessed before and after each visit, and we provide lifespan tracking and reporting so your team has full visibility into instrument longevity over time.
Yes. We work with dental groups and corporate offices looking to implement a consistent maintenance system across locations. If you’re a regional manager or operations leader, contact us to discuss a custom program tailored to your group’s needs.
